Tove de Fries

Tove was born in Klink in Jutland where she grew up hearing her father's music. Niels de Fries, a well-known fiddler, was an active dance player throughout his life.

Tove made the fiddle her main instrument, and in 2002 graduated from the "Carl Nielsen Academy of Music" with a degree in folk music. Today, Tove teaches the course "Dance and Playing for Dance" at the Carl Nielsen Academy. Tove also teaches at schools and seminars throughout Denmark.

Through her performances and her educational work, Tove displays both her natural flair and her natural access to the old traditional Danish dance music. Her joy and appreciation for this music have been an inspiration to numerous musicians and dancers.

A long-time student of the fiddler Peter Uhrbrand, from Soenderho, Tove has developed a deep knowledge of the unique Soenderhomusic and - dance repertoire from the island of Fanø.

Tove is active as a solo dance player and with numerous other bands. She also performs regularly with her own band, "Baltinget".
